The Commission Process

  • Browse

Have a look around the store & gallery to see examples of the types of portrait I offer. If you aren’t sure sure which photograph or medium to go with you can always reach out via my contact form or email first. I can guide you through the different mediums and give advice on the pictures you have available or how to take a perfect picture for using as a reference.

  • Order

Place your order through my online store. You can choose medium, size, number of pets and whether you’d like you piece to come pre mounted. If I don’t offer a size, number of pets etc that you’d prefer, then feel free to email me and I can give you a quote specific to what you’d like done.

  • Send a photograph

Once you have made a purchase please complete a contact form where you can upload your chosen image that will be used as a reference for your portrait.

  • Discuss

Once you have completed the contact form I will aim to respond within 1-2 working days. This is where we can begin to discuss your portrait- for example if you would like an exact copy of one image or if there are aspects of your chosen image that you would like to alter slightly.

  • Begin

I will then begin sketching out and drawing/ painting your portrait.

  • View work in progress (if desired)

As I work I will be taking pictures and videos of the portrait as it progresses. Please let me know if you’d like to receive updates and pictures throughout the process.

  • Complete

At the current time I aim to finish your portrait within 2-4 weeks. Once your piece is finished I will let you know. If requested I will send a picture of the completed portrait before I send it to ensure that the finished product is to your liking.

  • Ship

I will then ship the portrait to the address provided at checkout. I place the portraits in a plastic envelope, a hard backed postage envelope and then finally in a letterbox sized cardboard box. This is to ensure that the portrait remains safe in transit.

  • Request Review

Once you have received your portrait I request that you let me know if it arrived to you safely & let me know that you are happy. I will then ask for a written review which I can then add to my testimonial page.

More general information about my commissions.

  • My portraits will include the head and chest. I will consider full body portraits but this does depend on the reference image provided, and will incur extra time and therefore a higher cost. Please contact me for more information.

  • I am happy to include objects, bones, toys etc upon request and as long as the picture quality is good enough.

  • I love to try anything, so if you want a portrait of an exotic or wild animal that you don’t have a reference for feel free to reach out and I can see what images I can find.

  • I can also adapt pictures for more quirky results, for example my oil painting of Barley to look like the portrait of Lord Nelson. Let me know your idea and I’d be happy to talk you through it.
